Workshop

From Freelance to Founder

Designing Your First Team

At some point, working alone starts to feel constraining.

Not because the work isn’t good—but because everything depends on you.

This workshop is for experienced freelancers who sense they’re moving toward something else, but don’t want to replicate agency models that lead to overwork, loss of autonomy, or values that no longer fit.

From Freelance to Founder helps you slow this transition down, so you can design a studio you can live with—before growth decisions become difficult to undo.

Who this workshop is for

This workshop is designed for:

  • freelancers beginning to take on more work than one person can comfortably hold

  • independent creatives considering their first hire or collaborator

  • consultants who don’t want to “scale a business”, but do want support

  • people who feel the shift coming, but want clarity before commitment

You don’t need a growth plan.
You don’t need a hiring strategy.
You just need to recognise that something is changing.

What makes this workshop different

Most programmes focus on building an agency.

This workshop focuses on designing how you work.

Instead of rushing toward structures or tactics, we work with:

  • principles before structure

  • choices before tactics

  • clarity before commitment

This creates a more sustainable foundation—one that protects energy, authorship, and boundaries as responsibility increases.

What we explore

Arriving as a founder
Naming what you’re leaving behind, and what you don’t want to lose.

Invisible choices that shape everything
Surfacing inherited models of success and growth you may not actually want.

Designing roles, not just hiring people
Understanding what work should remain yours, and what kind of collaborator would genuinely complement you.

Creating a healthy studio narrative
Exploring how language, boundaries, and confidence change once others depend on you.

One intentional commitment
Leaving with a calmer, more deliberate next step—not a to‑do list.

Workshop format

  • Small group (6–10 participants)

  • 2–2.5 hours

  • Online or in‑person

  • Strong facilitation, minimal slides

The emphasis is on reflection, conversation, and shared insight—not instruction.

What you’ll leave with

Participants typically leave feeling:

  • clearer about what kind of studio they are designing

  • more confident in decisions they don’t need to rush

  • grounded in their own definition of growth

You don’t need to grow faster.
You need to grow intentionally.
